Students 9th and 10th Grade

College Planning

Whether you are a high school freshman or prospective college transfer, each student has unique strengths, talents, interests and experiences. Collegeworks helps our students best develop and showcase their academic and personal backgrounds to highlight their excellence and stand out as unique college applicants. The college application process can be an amazing time of self-reflection and discovery for students. Sadly, given the overwhelming amount of information and specific essays that need to be composed for each school, for many it can become a time of anxiety and panic. Collegeworks breaks the process down, step-by-step: you will receive one-on-one help from one of our experienced advisors who will be by your side from start to finish.

Early Action - 9th & 10th Graders

The early high school years are the best time to start thinking about how to shape your high school curriculum, explore career and major choices, and develop your extracurricular interests. We focus on what makes you the unique individual you are, on discovering your passions—and how to make the most of them.

An important focus of our Early Action Program is helping students learn the basic study and organizational skills they need to succeed in a competitive academic environment. Unlike previous generations, students today are expected to be capable of learning a large volume of information, performing well on high stakes exams as well as managing a calendar of extracurricular activities and academic deadlines. In short, the college admissions process has turned being a high school student into a job; yet, most students have not received the most basic training on how to be an effective student. We will spend one-on-one time teaching students how to take effective notes, compose outlines, prepare for exams and better manage the busy schedule and demanding academic expectations of high school.

Developing a working relationship early on will optimize the quality of the work that you do down the line. When we explore your interests and dreams together, we can keep our eyes out for opportunities for you. When we flush out your academic strengths and weaknesses, we can help you make better educational choices both inside and outside of the classroom. We will help you prepare for the PSAT and make the most out of the opportunity to take this practice exam. We will source, help you apply for and connect you with academic summer programs, volunteer opportunities and internships to complement your high school experience. The better we know you, the better we can ensure that the real you shines through in your applications.
